A sad story we brought you Wednesday night has a happy Halloween ending. A couple living in north Lincoln had a sentimental Halloween decoration stolen from their front porch earlier this week.
Thankfully a friend came to the rescue.
"It couldn't have happened to a better person, so I kind of felt bad for her," Jason Friesen said.
Dixie Blalock and her husband make a point of putting out halloween decor for the neighborhood kids every year. Tuesday night, Dixie says a thief ruined their fun by stealing a wooden coffin handcrafted by her husband fifteen years ago, right off their porch.
When friend, Jason Friesen, found out...he decided to build them a new one.
"I like crafty stuff so it was a good opportunity to do something on Halloween besides sit around and eat candy," Friesen said.
"It's nicer than the one we had really, it's fancier. Yeah it's very nice, he did a great job and we couldn't have asked for better," Blalock said.
Friesen says he finished the six–hour project just in time for Halloween. Working late Wednesday night and early Thursday morning so the Blalocks could have their new coffin ready for trick or treaters. A pretty nice gesture from one friend to another... but as we mentioned, the old coffin does have sentimental value to the couple, so if you see it, please call Lincoln Police at 402-441-7204.
