LINCOLN - The first thing you might remember about Nebraska's 27-24 victory over Northwestern is Ron Kellogg's hail mary heave to Jordan Westerkamp as time expired.
We'll call it the "Miracle at Memorial."
Although, a few other key events lead up to the desperation throw that won the game.
The Blackshirt defense completed a goalline stand against the Northwestern offense forcing a field goal with 1:20 left on the clock.
Then, on Nebraska's final drive, Kellogg completed a pass to Ameer Abdullah on 4th and 15. Abdullah clawed his way after the catch to get the first down and keep the drive alive.
The rest is history.
Without the defensive stop and the key 4th down conversion, the Huskers would not have been within striking distance to win the game.
