Soldiers in Afghanistan are getting a little holiday cheer. Blue Star Mothers met at the VFW Sunday to put together holiday care packages for their sons or daughters that have been deployed.
From toiletries and snacks to games and personal cards, nearly 50 boxes were packed and are ready to be shipped.
"Especially when we hear back from them, they'll send us an e–mail or note back saying that we made their day, they're so appreciative," Mary Peters said. "It just makes us so happy, and it just makes us work harder for the next time to do it again."
The care packages should be received within a couple weeks. The Blue Star Mothers said they plan to send more boxes again for Valentine's Day.
