University of Nebraska regents are throwing around ideas on how to keep tuition low and still provide students will a quality education.

School President, J.B. Milliken, says one option that's gaining popularity around the country, is a block tuition plan.

Block tuition would charge students a flat rate for taking a certain number of credits.

For example, a student taking 15 credit hours could pay the same amount as one who takes 18.

"We're always thinking about what we might do to expand access to our university, to build quality and to increase time to degree, or early graduation rates," says Milliken.

The regents have not seen a proposal on such a plan and will continue to weigh their options.

The university is under a tuition freeze through the 2014–2015 school year.
