An emotional 16-year-old Sarah Piccolo appeared before a Lancaster County District Court judge Friday morning asking the court to transfer her case to juvenile court.  Piccolo is accused of attacking another student in a Pius bathroom in October with a knife and hammer.

Piccolo has pleaded not guilty to first degree assault and use of a deadly weapon to commit a felony.  Piccolo's attorney told the judge that this is a juvenile case and she should not be charged as an adult.  However, prosecutors say Piccolo used a knife and intended to do harm.

Police say on October 7, Piccolo waited inside a bathroom and attacked Ellen Kopetzky cutting her face with a knife and hitting her head with a hammer.  After the incident on October 7, Piccolo fled in a car to a Kansas motel.  She was taken into custody there after she turned herself in.  Since the incident, Kopetzky has recovered and returned to school.

The judge did not make a decision on Friday.
