Shoppers have been anxiously waiting for six months to see the construction site in Gretna transform into the Nebraska Crossing Outlet Mall.
"I can't believe how fast they put the place up and it looks top notch," Jay Brown said.
Thousands of people swarmed to Gretna for the grand opening eager to check out the new gadgets and brands.
Hundreds started waiting in front of stores before they opened, some as early as 6:30 a.m.
Jennifer Colton stood in line for nearly 2 hours before seeing the inside.
"I'll wait however long to get into Coach, it doesn't matter," she said.
When the doors finally opened, eager shoppers didn't waste any time which is something the Nebraska Crossing officials expected.
"I think everybody has been waiting for these brands to come to Nebraska for a long, long, time," Rodney Yates, the head of the project, said.
For instance Michael Utts, who was the first in line at Nike.
"It's kind of something I've been waiting for awhile, being in Omaha, hasn't been anything of sort anywhere close," he said.
Rhonda and Jay Brown said their favorite part is the convenience.
"Right now, we're currently driving to Kansas City or some of the bigger cities that have outlet malls and to have it local is just amazing. It's going to draw in a huge crowd in revenue," Rhonda said.
Yates said he expected about 20-thousand people shopping Friday.
