Police are investigating a car theft from Friday night.
It happened around 11:30 p.m. at the Kwik Shop at 33rd and Holdredge.
Police say the car was stopped at a gas pump, turned off with the keys inside. That's when they say the suspect stole it, crashed it into a curb and then fled on foot.
Officials say the suspect then banged on the front door of an apartment near 31st and Apple Streets, telling the resident he stole a car and needed to hide. When the resident refused, police say the suspect tried to force himself into the apartment by breaking a window. They say he was unsuccessful and took off.
Police say the suspect is a white male in his early 20s, 5'5" and about 160 pounds. They say he was wearing black clothing and a hooded sweatshirt.
Police are still looking for him. If you have any information, call police.
