The Mega Millions jackpot for Tuesday night is $344 million. If won, it'll be the fourth largest jackpot in history.
People in Lincoln are trying their luck, buying Mega Millions lottery tickets to try to get ahold of the generous jackpot.
"I think that's why I got an extra ticket today, because of the size of the jackpot," Gary Boltz of Lincoln said.
Neil Watson with Nebraska Lottery says the bigger jackpot is thanks to changes that happened in October. Every time a Mega Millions drawing doesn't produce a winner, the jackpot grows by at least $5 million.
"We've had a total of 19 drawings now without a jackpot winner and that's really raised the amount to $344 million," Watson said.
People like Dan Stewart say it's the number that drew him to the counters. Stewart bought 19 tickets for his office pool.
"Everybody's like 'oh we need to win some money,' it'd be a nice present right before Christmas time," Stewart said.
The recent chilly weather has several lottery–players dreaming of spending their winnings in paradise.
"I would live some place warm, other than Nebraska," Boltz said.
"I'd pay all my bills and move somewhere warm," Paul Davis of Lincoln added.
But don't buy those plane tickets yet; the odds of winning are roughly 1 in 259 million.
Mega Millions tickets will be sold until 9 p.m. Tuesday. The winning numbers will be announced at 10 p.m., and can be found at nelottery.com and megamillions.com.
