Family and friends describe Ashley Stout as inspiring. She's a young single mother now battling cervical cancer.

Union Bank chose to give her family some well-deserved holiday cheer with a 'Magic Moment.'

The gifts were met with both smiles and tears. Stout and her 11–year–old daughter Madalyn opened presents bought by Union Bank, which selects ten deserving families every year to receive a Magic Moment.

"I was just surprised from the very beginning, I've just been shocked about this," Stout said.

Stout, who is 28 years old, was recently diagnosed with cervical cancer.

"My biggest worry was how am I going to support my daughter, how am I going to be there for her," Stout said.

Because of the intense treatments, she is unable to work.

"There were weeks I didn't get out of bed because I didn't feel good," Stout said.

Friends and family say she's staying positive and always puts her daughter first.

"She definitely is the mother of all mothers when it comes to Madalyn," cousin Jennifer Stout said. Jennifer was one of the people who nominated Ashley, along with her friend LeAnn Olsen. Olsen says it's Ashley's dedication and spirit that make her deserving of the gifts.

"She inspires my life, she motivates me to be better," Olsen said.

The family received a new TV, gift cards, and perfume for Madalyn, but it's a new dining room set that Stout says means the most- a gift that emphasizes family and quality time with her daughter.

"She's everything," Stout said.

There is a fund set up on giveforward.com to help Ashley and her family with medical expenses.

Channel 8 Eyewitness News is proud to partner with Union Bank to bring you Magic Moments.
