Denver, Co. - Two students were injured in a shooting at a Colorado high school and a third student, the suspected gunman, has died from what appears to be a self-inflicted gunshot wound, police said.

Police said one of the students was in serious condition.

"The suspect has been found inside the school and has deceased by what appears to be self inflicted gunshot wound," said Grayson Robinson, Arapahoe County Sheriff.

The shooting at the Arapahoe High School in Littleton, Colo., is just a few miles from Columbine High School, the scene of one of the country's worst school massacres.

In a scene that was eerily reminiscent of the Columbine tragedy, hundreds of students could be seen fleeing the school and then approaching police with their hands up to be searched by police.

"I was in government class and then and I heard one shot fired. Then two more went off and I knew it was a gunshot after that and it echoed in the hallways," said student Cameron Azzam.

"It was near my classroom. We went into immediate lockdown after that. Cops swarmed in. I heard them saying 'He went that way,' Azzam said.

Azzam said he heard three gunshots and saw as many 60 officers in the building.
