A female student is assaulted in a Lincoln Southeast High School bathroom, prompting quick action from school officials.

The incident happened a little after 12 p.m. Tuesday afternoon.

Police say the girl was grabbed, then pulled into a boy's restroom, where she was thrown against a wall by a teenage boy. Police say after she screamed, the boy then threw her to the ground, and ran off.

"The victim did sustain some redness and swelling in her right cheek as well as pain in her right shoulder from when she was pushed to the ground," Officer Katie Flood said.

The incident was labeled attempted sexual assault by the school.   Police say the victim believed that was the intent of her attacker, and she did not know him.

School officials sent a message to families informing them of the incident.

After searching the premises, school officials did not declare a lock down, after they determined no immediate threat. School officials sent a message to families informing them of the accident, and the actions being taken to ensure the safety of their students.

Channel 8's Jenn Schanz is heading to Southeast to get students reactions. More to come on Channel 8 Eyewitness News at 5, 6, and 10.
