A Lincoln woman is paying it forward this holiday season in a way she never imagined.

Kellan Weber started a Facebook group called, "Holiday Angels of Lincoln NE and Surrounding Areas," as a way to connect those in need with people who want to help.

What started with a few families in need quickly spread to more than 100 families across Nebraska.

"Bam. Within a couple days I had hundreds of messages in my inbox," Weber said. "It was definitely overwhelming."

Weber said many people offered to "adopt" families listed in the group. They donated new or gently used items to those families, and personally delivered them.

All the donors are complete strangers.

"I know names of over 250 people that I never knew, I've only met a handful of them," Weber said.

Weber said people also took donations to her home. The piled up boxes fill her dining room, with everything from clothing and blankets to toys and baby products.

"This is actually only about half of, less than half of what we received," Weber said, referring to the gifts near her Christmas tree.

The generosity will go to people in Lincoln and to about 30 other communities throughout the state. Weber said she'd like to thank all of the "Holiday Angels" that are helping her pay it forward this season.

"Knowing that child's face is going to be, 'Oh my gosh I got a new toy,' even if it's one toy," Weber said. "If we could make that difference. Some new clothes and a toy. I can't even explain how that makes me feel."

Weber said she plans to keep the Facebook group going into the new year. She wants to help families during Easter, as well as for children's birthdays.
