The Lancaster County Attorney has amended charges against Richard McLaughlin III in the beating deaths of two Lincoln men.

McLaughlin is now charged with 2nd Degree Murder, Accessory to a Felony, and Use of a Deadly Weapon to Commit a Felony.  McLaughlin is one of two men charged in the crimes.  He and 22-year-old Tyler Thornburg are accused in the June 29th beating deaths of David Mueller and Shane Walton.

Police say the two suspects are part of a gang called "True Blue Soldiers."  Police say that night, the gang was issued a challenge to make a name for themselves.  That's when police say the men saw Mueller walking by and they beat him with a baseball bat.  Walton was beaten at another location an hour later.

A preliminary hearing for McLaughlin is set for January 28 in Lancaster County Court.
