For Lyndsy and Eden Schulz, Dec. 26 is a day set aside for shopping.
"It's kind of a tradition, my husband and I usually come out and buy wrapping paper and stuff for next year for Christmas," Lyndsy said.
"I really wanted to look for my iPod," Eden said.
The Schulz's weren't the only ones checking out the after-Christmas deals. People were out and about, but the morning did get off to a slow start. Only about 20 people were ready to shop at Younkers when doors opened at 6. JCPenney said a few trickled in around 7, but crowds didn't flood in until later.
"A lot of people don't get out and about until 11:30 or 12, people wanting to come to the mall for lunch and various activities," JCPenney store manager Farid Kasra said.
Younkers representatives said the week after Christmas is one of the busiest times of the year for customers to make returns.
"When you're doing the return, early morning and later in the evening is the best time of day to do it. We're not quite as busy during that time frame and we can help you find an item that you would like better," Younkers store manager Melinda Nearman said.
Off peak hours mean less headaches for shoppers, and more employee availability to help you search for the best deals.
"My legs start to hurt because I have to look at everything!" Eden said.
All store hours will go back to normal, 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. tomorrow.
