The Lancaster County Sheriff's Office is looking for a driver who hit a road worker just after 8 a.m. Friday near Waverly on Interstate-80.
The Trafcon worker, Elias Rodriguez, was treated for minor injuries and has been released from the hospital.
Sheriff Terry Wagner said Rodriguez was checking barricades on the eastbound side to see if they were still in tact after Thursday's heavy winds.
"At about that same time, a vehicle we believe struck the barricade first and then struck the 42–year–old man," Wagner said.
Wagner said the driver took off without stopping. It's unclear whether the driver knew Rodriguez had been struck.
"The driver may not have seen him standing behind that barricade," Wagner said.
Authorities are looking for a 2000 to 2002 dark blue Toyota with license plate digits 006. The driver is possibly a white female.
The sheriff said the sun may have been a factor in the crash. The brightness could have made it hard for eastbound drivers to see.
"Drivers still need to be aware of their surroundings and just be aware when there's a visual obstruction obscurity, that they maintain control of the vehicle," Wagner said.
Again, deputies are still looking for the driver. They're asking anyone who may have information to contact the Sheriff's Office at 402–441–6500.
