Lincoln police arrested 33-year-old Louis Vera on charges related to an armed robbery at a Kwik Shop Sunday morning.
Witnesses right next door at a garage sale heard the commotion.
"I was standing here with my sister-in-law when we heard screaming in the parking lot behind us, saying 'I've been robbed, I've been robbed, please help me catch him,'" witness Jill Smith said.
Smith says the man sprinting from the parking lot ran right between her and her sister-in-law, nearly knocking them over.
"That's when I tried to put my foot out to trip him so that he would fall but he jumped right up over my leg and I fell and he headed that way," Smith said.
Police say the Kwik Shop employee tried to chase the man down before authorities arrived.
"Officers were in the area very quickly and spotted a person running about 28th and Pear Street, and the person was taken into custody at 29th and Vine Street," Lincoln Police Capt. David Beggs said.
Police say they did use a taser on the suspect. A handgun was also recovered.
Officers found a small amount of cash on Vera, who is being charged with robbery, use of a weapon to commit a felony, felon in possession of a firearm, resisting arrest and possession of a stolen firearm.
