LINCOLN -- A former Lincoln City Councilman has been named the Nebraska Democratic Party's new executive director. Dan Marvin, was appointed by the party's chair, Vince Powers.
"I am excited to announce Dan Marvin as our new executive director. As an elected official, political activist, and recent Executive Director of the tremendously successful Pinnacle Bank Arena project, Dan Marvin has the proven experience and background to lead the Nebraska Democratic Party, as we work to elect Democrats in 2014," said Vince Powers, Nebraska Democratic Party Chair.
Over the years, Marvin served on each campaign committee to elect the last three Democratic Mayors in Lincoln. Consulting campaigns on strategies and message, he has played an active role in numerous citywide and state legislative races.
Dan Marvin was appointed to the Infrastructure Finance Committee, and the Lincoln Economic Development Task Force by Mayor Don Wesley and as a member of the Lincoln/Lancaster County Planning Commission.
In 2005, Dan Marvin was elected citywide as an At-Large member of the Lincoln City Council and served as chair from 2007 to 2008. Marvin served on the Railroad Transportation Safety District, Community Development Task Force, and the CIty Council Internal Liquor Committee.
Appointed by Mayor Chris Beutler in 2009, Marvin has since served, as the Executive Director of the West Haymarket Joint Public Agency. Making him the point person responsible for completion of the Pinnacle Bank Arena.
Since 1993, Dan has owned and operated Marvin Investment Management Company, a registered investment advisory firm. He earned his Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Nebraska Lincoln in 1981. Dan and his wife Donna have lived in Lincoln for over 30 years. They have three children.
