(Lincoln, Neb.)- A vehicle headed the wrong way on Interstate 80 near Lincoln led to a short pursuit and a drunken driving arrest.
The Nebraska State Patrol says a trooper spotted a vehicle traveling east in the westbound lanes of I-80 at the 27th Street exit in Lincoln at around 1:20 a.m. The trooper attempted a traffic stop, but the vehicle kept going. The state patrol says the car turned around and started heading west.
The trooper set up spike strips, and the car ran over the strips flattening all four tires. The state patrol says the driver turned the car around driving east in the eastbound lanes until she lost control at mile marker 405. The patrol says the car ended up in the ditch.
The driver, Leahlia S. Beatty, 25, Beaver Crossing, was arrested for Flight to Avoid Arrest, Driving Under the Influence, Driving Left of Center and Careless Driving.
The pursuit lasted approximately 10 minutes and reached speeds of 40 mph.
