Two men are behind bars for a string of robberies after making a careless mistake.

Lincoln Police arrested 19–year–old Keith Cocroft and 18–year–old Shaquille Adams for their suspected involvement in multiple convenience store robberies.

Just after 3:30 Saturday morning, police say the two men ran into the store with bb guns that looked like black handguns and demanded money. Little did they know, two police officers were already inside the store and their police cruisers were parked right next to the front door where the suspects entered.

"At that time, the officers drew their weapons and demanded that the suspects drop theirs," Officer Katie Flood said. "Instead, the two suspects ran out of the store."

One of the officers chased the suspects and saw them leave in a car parked around the corner. The officer was able to get the license plate number which helped lead to the suspects' arrests.

"The car was stopped near Woods Park," Officer Flood said. "The suspects were not inside, instead a 17–year–old female was driving."

Police say the girl was the get-away driver and was cited for Accessory to a Felony.

Police say Cocroft and Adams were also arrested for their involvement in two other Kwik Shop robberies earlier this month. One on February 16th at the store on 1st and Cornhusker and the second at the same store on 40th and A on February 9th.

"In both of the other robberies they did get away with cash," Officer Flood said. "In this case, it happened so quickly no cash was stolen from the business."

Police continue to investigate and are looking into whether the two suspects are involved in any other recent store robberies.
