Staff members of a Lincoln hotel are pulling together to help one of their own.
For years, Sherry Ubben has helped guests get ready for their day, serving breakfast at Staybridge Suites on 27th and Fletcher Ave. Guests and hotel staff describe her as an amazing individual, with a genuine heart and a warm smile.
And after the hotel staff learned of Ubben's breast cancer diagnosis, they decided there's only one thing they could do: fight on with her.
The Staybridge Suites staff says "Sweethearts for Sherry" is their way of raising money to support Ubben and her family with their mounting medical bills.
This week, the hotel has initiated a weeklong campaign entitled "#PowerOfPink Week," in which they are collecting donations from people, and entering them into a raffle.
One winner will receive a free weekend stay in a one bedroom suite with a king-sized bed for the first Big Ten Conference football game against the University of Illinois, which is scheduled for Sept. 27.
The prize is valued at over $400.
Entries into the raffle are $1 each, and the number of times you can enter the drawing is unlimited.
Their goal is to raise and much money as they can by the end of Feb. 28th, which is Ubben's birthday.
Anyone can stop by the hotel and enter the raffle.
