An actress spent Thursday touring UNL's Campus. Her first stop? A patch of grass in front of Memorial Stadium.
Sarah Elizabeth Combs is in Lincoln to perform in the production of I Love Lucy, but she says if it weren't for UNL, she might never be here.
Her parents met at the university 36 years ago.
They were laying on the grass, basking in the sun, in front of Memorial Stadium six weeks after they met when The Daily Nebraskan snapped a picture of them.
Her dad, Kelly Combs, was a Husker baseball player. And her mom, Diana, was on the dance team.
Sarah's mom told her when the picture was taken, they weren't an official couple yet. But when it ran on the front page of the paper the next day, they didn't have a choice.
"This is really special for me to be here because I realized if it weren't for the University and my parents meeting here, I wouldn't be alive. So it's kind of a full–circle moment for me," Sarah said.
And now Sarah is in the same place doing what she loves, performing in I Love Lucy at the Lied Center.
If you'd like to see her in I Love Lucy, here is a full list of dates and times of performances:
