Pius and Lincoln North East were the only two teams left in the tournament at the start of day two of the Girls State Basketball Tournament.

"It's state baby! We gotta win this," Pius fans said at the tournament on Friday.

Day two of the competition started out with pride.

With just two Lincoln teams left in the tournament, students say they needed to stand out.

Pius X fans were confident going into the game against Holdredge.

"We're going to finish strong."

"Represent Lincoln. Represent."

The Pinnacle Bank Arena saw a lot of purple and a lot of green, but the student section was decked out in brighter colors.

Students say they have a theme for every game. This game's theme? Neon.

Pius students say the colors are to show their girls they are a united family.

"This is the first time our girls have made it to state. It's exciting to see them work hard and get to this point. It's awesome," a Pius fan said.

The second game, Lincoln North East, taking on Omaha Benson.

Their school picked a theme for Friday's game as well.

"Today we're doing a white out, yesterday was a black out," a student fan said.

North East's student section supported their girls in a different way. Their method? The louder, the better.

"The louder we can be, the more supportive, the better they'll do," a fan said.

This is the third year in a row North East has made it to state.

Fans say no matter what happens, they're just there to cheer on their girls.

"Always nice to know someone's in the stands for you guys," a North East fan said.

Both teams were fighting for a spot in the state finals.

Lincoln North East lost to Benson. But Pius will go on to Grand Island Northwest, the defending state champs.
