Lincoln Police arrested a man they believe stabbed a CVS Pharmacy employee Sunday morning.

Capt. David Beggs says 30-year-old Leslie Alsop is in jail for 2nd degree assault and shoplifting.

It happened around 7:40 a.m. Police say Alsop was inside the CVS Pharmacy at 16th and South streets when he tried to run off with a TracFone prepaid cell phone. Police say the cashier tried to chase him down and restrain him in the parking lot when the suspect stabbed him in the arm with scissors.

The man took off running, but police caught and arrested him near 15th and Sumner streets.

Beggs says the cashier suffered minor injuries and refused medical attention.
