16-year-old Carley Benson was sentenced to probation until the age of 19. Benson was convicted of motor vehicle homicide and willful reckless driving in the August 27 accident that killed her friend, 15-year-old Taylon Artman. Benson was 15 at the time of the crash.

The accident happened on Raymond Road near Waverly. Investigators say inexperience, not speed, was a factor in the crash. Benson was originally charged in adult court, but her case was later moved to juvenile court.
