A Lincoln man is recovering in the hospital after being run over during a robbery.
Police say the 44–year–old victim was picking up a friend around 4:00 a.m. Monday when three other men he didn't know got into his car.
Officials say the men began insulting him and made him uncomfortable so he pulled over at a U-Stop near 27th and E to call police. They say the suspects jumped him when he got out of the car, hitting him repeatedly in the face. Police say one of the suspects grabbed the victim's keys during the assault and all four men took off in his car.
"As the men left the lot, they actually ran over the victim, breaking his leg," Officer Katie Flood said.
The victim was taken to the hospital for surgery.
His car was found empty near 21st and F St. shortly after the robbery.
