An early morning crash near Louisville claimed the life of 25-year-old David Gressley.
Gressley, a former marine who served overseas was living in Lincoln.
After surviving the war there, his life, cut short by this collision.
Sarpy County Deputies responded to the crash on Friday on Highway 50, just north of the PlatteRiver.
The call came in around 4 a.m. Gressley’s pickup hit a semi.
"The white pickup truck was on Highway 31 eastbound. Apparently it ran the stop sign hit the side of the trailer, went underneath the vehicle and was drug about 300 feet," an official at the scene said.
Deputies say the pickup was pinned underneath the semi and caught on fire.
"The fire department showed up. Put the fire out," the official said.
A passenger in the pickup, 19-year-old Tyler Armknecht of Johnson, Nebraska died at the scene.
It took rescuers three hours to get Gressley out. He was airlifted to the hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
The driver of the semi was taken to the hospital as well. He’s expected to be okay.
