Garland Fire officials said a tornado that touched down just south of Garland near Highway 34 and 196th Street affected two homes and some out buildings.

The intersection was blocked off for quite some time because of a downed power line. No one was able to get through except family members.

Officials said the homes were partly damaged, and that a few horses weren't able to make it. Thankfully, they said no one was injured.

"Some of them were not home, some of them were making their way back in," Mark Henning of Garland Fire said. "At this point, we're just trying to see who lives around here. Making sure everyone's accounted for."

As of about 8:00 p.m., the road was still blocked off and power was not restored.
