A Husker linebacker and a distance runner are charged with stealing seven bikes from a UNL bike rack Monday evening.
UNL Police say Josh Banderas and Lucas Keifer, both 19, were arrested after Lincoln police pulled over their pickup near Antelope Valley Parkway and M Street at around 5 p.m..

Police say a witness saw the two men clipping bike locks with a bolt cutter and loading bikes onto a truck. They were arrested on suspicion of possession of burglar's tools and theft by unlawful taking. The bikes and a bolt cutter were found in the bed of the truck. Tuesday, the county attorney charged Banderas and Keifer with felony theft by unlawful taking.

They are scheduled to appear in court June 17.
Banderas started four games for the Huskers last fall. He is a Lincoln Southwest High School graduate.  Keifer, who also graduated from Lincoln Southwest, runs for the Nebraska cross country and track and field teams.

The NU Athletic Department have no comment at this time.
