KEARNEY, Neb. (AP) _ Authorities have released the name of a 55-year-old woman who died after being hit by a train in Kearney.
She was identified as Karen McConnell, of Kearney. Kearney officers were sent to the scene on West Railroad Street a little after 6:15 p.m. Sunday after Union Pacific workers called 911. McConnell was pronounced dead at the scene.

McConnell was a graduate of Lincoln East High school, and earned her degree from Bryan School of Nursing in Lincoln. Her obituary says she worked as a nurse at Children’s Hospital in Omaha for 17 years and was manager of the pediatric intensive care unit for five of those years.

She is survived by her husband, daughter and two sons. Services are planned for Thursday morning in Kearney.
