The Lancaster County Sheriff's Office cited a Waverly nursing home employee for mistreating patients. Sheriff Terry Wagner says it happened at the Waverly Care Center. The sheriff says employees reported the abuse on May 10th. They told investigators that 49-year-old Barbara Fallon was being forceful with patients, even slapping them. Three separate cases were reported and all of the cases involved elderly women.

"The residents may have memory problems or different levels of cognitive memory and may not remember," Sheriff Wagner said.

Fallon was cited and released for Third Degree Assault (a misdemeanor), and abuse of a vulnerable adult (a felony).

The center released a statement saying, “We are aware of recent reports of the criminal citation of a former employee of our community for improper conduct towards a resident...We conducted a thorough and immediate investigation of the allegations and took prompt remedial action, including termination… At Waverly care center we care deeply about the safety and well-being of our residents and will continue to provide the high quality services and caring environment that they have come to enjoy so much.”
