Sarah Piccolo, the Pius X student accused of attacking a classmate last fall, was found competent to stand trial in Lancaster County District Court Wednesday. Piccolo is charged with First Degree Assault and Use of Weapon to Commit a Felony in the case.

Prosecutors say she waited in a school bathroom, and attacked a student with a knife and hammer. They say Piccolo cut the student's face and hit her head with the hammer. The victim recovered from the attack.

Piccolo, now 17, was 16 at the time of the assault.
