The Lancaster County Sheriff's Office has arrested a registered sex offender for first degree sexual assault of a child. The sheriff's office says 28-year-old Sean Phillips was arrested Thursday. The investigation began early Wednesday when deputies investigated an assault involving a car where Phillips was the victim. At the time, two people were arrested for hitting Phillips with the car multiple times after a fight.
Upon further investigation, the sheriff's office says they discovered a 14-year-old Lincoln girl had been sexually assaulted by Phillips on Tuesday. They say the girl is a reported runaway. Phillips was arrested Friday morning. He was convicted in 2006 for attempted first degree sexual assault in Douglas County.
The sheriff's office says the car assault on Phillips is unrelated to the sexual assault charge.
