The countdown has begun to step up and donate for “Give to Lincoln Day.”

Donors have 24 hours to open their hearts and wallets to give money to hundreds of nonprofit groups around the Capital City.

The giving started Thursday morning when the clock struck midnight and will last until 11:59 p.m. on Thursday. If you would like to donate, you can go to givetolincoln.com. Click on the “Donate Now” icon and that will bring up a list of nonprofits participating in the day. Then you can click on a particular nonprofit, read about the specifics and donate.

This year $300,000 of the money donated during the 24 hours will be matched by the Lincoln Community Foundation among other sponsors. Last year “Give to Lincoln Day” raised a little more than $2 million dollars. This year the goal is to raise $2.5 million. If you would like to donate in person, just stop by the Lincoln Community Foundation building at 215 Centennial Mall South between 8:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m.
