Beatrice police reported Thursday morning that Lamar, the yellow lab recently returned to it's owner, has died. In a strange twist of events, police say they received a report on May 24 that a woman had been bitten in the face by a yellow lab named Lamar. The same dog that was recently released from the Beatrice Humane Society and had been deemed a potentially dangerous dog based on alleged attack of a child.
Police say the dog bite report was false and that the woman told officers she had never been bitten by Lamar. Officers contacted the owners of Lamar. They told officers Lamar had died earlier that day. The law office that represented Lamar's owner told Channel 8 News that the owner came home and found Lamar dead at the foot of the stairs. They assume he fell. The owner says Lamar was buried in Gage County.
