LINCOLN - Ian Gac has been an offensive machine for the Lincoln Saltdogs.
In 17 games, he's made his mark in the American Association at the plate. Entering Tuesday, he ranked second in the league for home runs (5) and held a batting average of .382. He posted enough offensive numbers for the American Association to name him Player of the Week on June 2.
It's the second year Gac has called the Saltdogs home, but he said he's looking for an opportunity to play minor league affiliated baseball again. The slugging first baseman entered the minor leagues out of high school. Since then, he's played in the White Sox, Rangers and Braves organizations. He's never made it higher than AA.
A broken hand sidelined Gac for 40 games last season.
Channel 8's Peter Terpstra shows how a healthy Gac might not be in Lincoln for much longer if he keeps playing well.
