Storm damage in Blair

Debris covers the streets of Blair, Wednesday, as its residents try to clean up a big mess.

"If you face the north, basically the south side of the street, I think you got hit with all of the hail storm and all of that, but on the north side they didn't get hit quite as much," Governor Dave Heineman said.

The governor toured Blair Wednesday afternoon to assess the damage from Tuesday's storm. Woodhouse Car Dealership is one of the worst hit. 43 hundred cars were pelted with hail, company officials estimate the damage in the tens of millions of dollars.

Businesses in downtown Blair also took a big hit.

"The glass just sprayed across the room, probably a good 30 feet. When the weather news man tells you to get away from the windows in bad weather, you need to move away from the windows," Rebecca Fox said.

Fox said glass is everywhere. The windows of her business are smashed in from what she said was golf and tennis ball-sized hail. Fox's home was also hit. She said it'll cost close to $100 thousand to repair it, and she's not alone. Several homes in Blair have shattered windows and siding hanging off of the house.

Even in the darkest of times for the people of Blair, they're still holding their annual carnival this weekend, as scheduled.

"Everyone's just really come together," Fox said.
