Beaver Crossing fundraiser a home run

Beaver Crossing fundraiser a home run

The town of Beaver Crossing is one step closer to rebuilding their baseball facility thanks to some neighbors, stepping up to the plate.

At the end of May, Milford hosted a baseball tournament and auction, all proceeds going to the Beaver Crossing Baseball program.

"We kind of thought it'd be a smaller tournament but it just mushroomed into something huge," explains organizer Tamara Kenning.

The fundraiser was a home run.

Monday, they handed over a check totaling $ 8,452.

Beaver Crossing Coach, Justin Schernikau says, "The kids can have a place to play now and just have fun and enjoy themselves and be kids, they don't need to worry about clean up and how to repair stuff, they just need to learn to be a kid again."

City officials say the price tag on repairing the park, which includes the pool and playground, is over half a million dollars.

This donation and others will help a lot.

"It's a relief, with everything going on and all of the other organizations doing these fundraiser's and things, it's takes such a relief and a burden," says City Clerk, Shannon Chesnut.

The city hopes to have the pool open in July and the park put back together by the end of summer.
