Jersey Mike's raised close to $13 thousand for Teammates, a school-based mentoring program for students. Jersey Mike's owner said they raised the money as part of a movement through their restaurant chain to help better the community.
"You can't really walk anywhere in Lincoln without running into somebody that's involved with Teammates somehow," owner Jeff Marcotte said.
The funds donated by Jersey Mike's will help more kids get into the program.
"These funds will go a long way in helping us to provide more mentors to the students that are in need mentors," Teammates Lincoln Chapter director Walter Powell said.
Right now about 1100 kids are in the Teammates program. 600 are on the waiting list.
