Emergency management officials from several Nebraska counties are reporting damage from Saturday night's severe weather.
Tornado watches were issued for multiple central and eastern Nebraska counties. Weather spotters confirmed a tornado touched down in Franklin County near Hildreth, and another near Webster State Park in northern Kansas around 5:30 p.m. Franklin County officials say the storm downed power lines and trees and damaged the roofs of several homes and businesses.
The National Weather Service in Hastings reports the area saw softball-sized hail and 79 mph wind gusts.
In Lincoln, strong wind gusts caused 2,100 LES customers to lose power early Sunday morning. The largest areas affected were in south-central Lincoln. Company representatives say crews and arborists were working through the night to restore power as quickly as possible. They say power for all but 50 customers should be back up and running.
