WISNER, Neb. (AP) Authorities have established an emergency shelter in northeast Nebraska for residents who lost their homes after tornadoes in and around Pilger.

Wisner-Pilger Public Schools Superintendent Chad Boyer says about a dozen people arrived at the shelter last night, and officials were expecting more.

Boyer says the shelter at Wisner-Pilger High School will remain open as long as needed to provide food, water, showers and cots.
