pet groomer from Kansas City came all the way to Pilger Thursday to help rescue animals from the rubble.

Kathy Plant does this for a living following numerous natural disasters. She even helped out after Hurricane Katrina.

She said most animals in Pilger are safe and sound, but she's rescued a few kittens.

"They're the lucky ones. We pulled them from the board and there they were," Plant said "It's always good to see the people's faces. To let them know you found their pet. Kind of a healing for them after they lost everything."

Plant has brought unclaimed pets to Countryside Vet Clinic in Wisner. She encourages those looking for lost pets to call (402) 529-6080.
