Help Sought in Identifying Body Found in Seward County

(Beaver Crossing, Neb.)- The Nebraska State Patrol is asking for the public’s help in identifying the body of an Asian male, discovered Wednesday, June 25, on the bank of the Big Blue River, just south of Beaver Crossing in Seward County.

Investigators say around 12:30 p.m., Wednesday, a passerby called 911 after spotting what appeared to be a body, south of the bridge off of 406 Road.  A Seward County Deputy responded to the scene, confirmed the information, and requested the assistance of the Nebraska State Patrol.

An autopsy ordered by the Seward County Attorney was conducted Thursday afternoon, June 26. Results of the autopsy are not being released as the investigation into the man’s death continues.

“The autopsy revealed he did not die of natural causes and his death is being investigated as a homicide,” said Nebraska State Patrol Investigative Services Lieutenant Bob Frank.  “There was also no identification on the body, so we are reaching out to the public hoping someone can help us identify him.”

The victim, an Asian male, is believed to be 25-to-45 years of age, approximately 5’7” tall, 140 lbs., with black medium length hair and brown eyes. The body was clothed in a dark blue t-shirt and blue and white athletic shorts.

Lt. Frank said, “There is a very distinctive tattoo of a panther on the victim’s upper left arm.  It is a very unique mark, one we believe someone would recognize.”

Anyone with information that could help identify the victim is encouraged to call the Nebraska State Patrol at (402) 479-4921 or the Statewide Crime Stoppers at 1-800-422-1494.
