The Nebraska Department of Roads will begin work on I-80 near the 56th Street Interchange next week. Weather permitting, I-80 eastbound lanes will be temporarily closed between Exit 405, the 56th Street Interchange, and Exit 409, the Waverly Interchange, for two nights, July 15 and July 16, during the hours of 11:00 p.m. to 6:00 a.m., according to the Nebraska Department of Roads. Eastbound traffic will be detoured south on L-55X, 56th Street, to US-6, Cornhusker Highway, then east on US-6 to the Waverly Interchange, Exit 409. The eastbound lanes will be reopened to traffic by 6:00 a.m. each day. Daytime single lane closures and nighttime double lane closures are also possible in this area starting on Monday, July 14. The closures will allow the state’s contractor to work on the driving lanes of I-80 near the bridges west of the Waverly Interchange. It is anticipated that the work will be completed in three working days. In case of inclement weather, the work will be postponed and rescheduled.
