A Lincoln woman is out thousands of dollars and her translator is in jail, suspected of stealing it.

Police say Martha Rik, 19, stole nearly $13,000 between December and May.

They say a 64-year-old woman noticed money was missing from her account and suspected Rik because Rik had gone to the bank with her to translate, giving her access to the woman's account information.

Officers say Rik also opened a credit card in the victim's name and charged more than $1,500 to it.

Rik has been arrested for theft by deception and identity theft.
