A quiet residential neighborhood in Columbus was the scene of a police chase Wednesday afternoon.

"One cruiser went by really fast and about two or three minutes later another one, another minute or so after that a rescue unit came by," says neighbor Gary Brandt.

Police say 19–year–old Chase Micklevitz stabbed his 58–year–old grandmother Deanna Micklevitz just after 1 p.m. They say it happened at the grandmother's home, where the boy had been staying.

She was pronounced dead at the hospital.

Police say the grandson took off shortly after the incident, and they had to place a nearby daycare on temporary lock-down. A little over an hour later, he was arrested at a nearby parking lot for second-degree murder.

Neighbors who knew Deanna say she was pleasant woman.

"She was very nice. We've had a couple garage sales here and she's come down and she's looked at things, and she's talked to us. Very, very nice," says neighbor Lorrie Brandt.

According to police, the grandson had cuts to his hands and neck, and was treated at a local hospital.

Neighbors say the area is family friendly, and that they're still trying to wrap their heads around the incident.

"Very quite neighborhood, a lot of kids in the neighborhood. I never ever would have expected anything like that over there," says Gary Brandt.

Police are still investigating. If found guilty of second–degree murder, Micklevitz could face 20 years to life behind bars.
