COLUMBUS, Neb. (AP) Bail has been set at $1 million for a 19-year-old Columbus man accused of fatally stabbing his grandmother.

According to reports, Chase Micklevitz is charged with second-degree murder in the death of 58-year-old Deanna Micklevitz. He is also charged with use of a deadly weapon to commit a felony.

Police say she was stabbed four times Wednesday afternoon with a kitchen knife at the home she shared with her grandson. She was taken to Columbus Community Hospital and then flown to a Lincoln hospital, where she was pronounced dead upon her arrival.

A Platte County jailer said Friday that Micklevitz remained in custody. Micklevitz's next court appearance is scheduled for Aug. 13.
