A Seattle family is putting thousands of miles on their car this summer, driving to every corner of the U.S. Their incredible trip will be accomplished in just 51 days.

Alisa Johnson, her two teenage sons and her sister, are traveling to all 50 capitols plus D.C.

The trip started on June 28th in Salem, Oregon, and will wrap up August 17th in their hometown capitol, Olympia, Washington. The idea to do this once in a lifetime trip came to Alisa in a dream.

"I just couldn't let go of the idea that for the rest of their lives the boys would be able to say, when I was a teenager, my mom and I did this crazy thing," said Alisa Johnson

"She's crazy," said her son Nicholas Johnson.

So far, they've put 10,500 miles on their car and expect they have about 4,000 more to go. Favorite spots along the way have been Boston and Santa Fe.

They said Lincoln is awesome, but that there's a lot of construction going on. Again, the trip wraps up two Sundays from now where the Johnson's will be welcomed home by family and friends.
