Hazmat crews were called to a local business Thursday afternoon after a woman crashed into it with her car.

The call came in just before 2:30. Lincoln Fire & Rescue officials say a car crashed into the front of Trinity Chiropractic near 31st and O streets. The accident shut down westbound lanes for about 45 minutes.

Witnesses say the driver was coming out of a driveway on O Street when she lost control. James Severeid, who saw it all happen, says it was a miracle she didn't hit anybody else.

"A Dodge came flying out, almost hitting us, crossed the median and she tried to steer it back into her lane," Severeid said.

The driver overcorrected, causing her to swerve into the front lawn of the business and hit the building.

"The vehicle did strike the gas meter but our crews were able to actually shut it down and prevent any further gas leaks," Battalion Chief Tim Linke said.

Linke says fire crews got the gas lines shut off within a matter of minutes. The car also struck some signs outside of the business.

The woman was not seriously hurt, and was taken to the hospital with minor injuries.
