Officers arrested 26–year–old Markus Lopez of Lincoln for targeting five businesses near N. 66th Street and Cotner Boulevard last month.

The burglaries occurred between July 29 and 31. Police said Lopez stole from Cook's Café and Heartland Scuba Center down the street.

After searching his parents' home, where he lives, police said they recovered a laptop, scuba accessories and a clock.

"Back in September 2013, Cook's Café was burglarized. A luggage tag bearing Marcus Lopez's name was found after that burglary inside the restaurant," Ofc. Katie Flood said. "At the time, he denied any involvement in the burglary. It simply wasn't enough to arrest him for the crime. So when Cook's Café was struck again, Lopez was obviously developed as a suspect."

Police said Lopez attempted to steal from other shops in the area. In each case, they said the front door glass was shattered. They said he lives close by.

Lopez was lodged in jail Saturday on two counts of burglary. Police are looking to recover more items.
