OMAHA, Neb. (AP) According to the Production company, "Cops" TV crew member Bryce Dion has died after being hit during a police shootout at an Omaha Wendy's near 43rd and Dodge.

The shootout happened around 9:20 Tuesday night. According to police, officers were dispatched to the Wendy's on a robbery call. Dion, along with other "Cops" crew members, followed the officers to the scene.

That's where police say Cortez Washington was in the process of robbing the restaurant. At a press conference held Wednesday afternoon, Omaha Police officials say the initial shots fired by Washington came from an air-soft pistol which fires rubber pellets.

According to police officials, the weapon looked real. They say officers had no choice but to return fire.

Cortez was also shot and killed by police fire.

The "Cops'' crew had been working in Omaha for several weeks. Production officials say Dion has just recently been promoted.
